Mercedes to implement silicon-anode battery tech

Mercedes-Benz is introducing ‘game-changing’ silicon-anode battery technology for its electric G-Class. This new chemistry can apparently increase the energy density of a lithium-ion battery by up to 40 per cent. It is due to go into production within two years. The tech has been co-developed by Mercedes and Sila Nanotechnologies. The G580 EQ recently debuted at the Beijing Motor Show. Tesla further trims Model 3 and Model Y prices

Tesla has taken a knife to Model 3 and Model Y prices again, reflecting global price cuts for its two primary models. The refreshed Model 3 last week cost $NZ65,900 for the base Model 3 and $75,200 for the Long Range variant. Now the pair are selling for $63,900 and $73,900, respectively. At the time of the Model 3 refresh last year, they had sticker prices of $67,900 and $76,200.  Tesla has also reduced pricing for the Model Y by a similar amount.
