The best EV deals in NZ right now

by Kyle Cassidy
April 29, 2024

Sales of EVs have gone from a surge to a trickle since the Clean Car Discount was axed. And the introduction of RUCs has further dampened the enthusiasm for electric cars. Meanwhile, many brands have battery powered stock to sell, and so many have a few offers to entice would be buyers. These are the best EV deals in NZ right now.

Free RUCs for EVs

Mercedes-Benz NZ is offering 25,000kms worth of road user charges for buyers of EVs, which is worth around $1900. Merc is also taking its axe to some of its prices with $9000 off the EQA and EQB, while the EQC gets a haircut to the tune of $29,500. Click here for more details

BYD is also offering free RUCs, chucking in 20,000km worth with every BEV model sold. It is throwing in an EO 7.2kW mini charger for free as well. This is available on new and dealer demonstrators. And some dealers have demonstrator Atto 3 Extended models with under 100km for as little as $47,800 drive away. This model lists at $59,990 plus ORC new.  Click here for more details.

BYD has also dropped their prices on their Dolphin Standard Range from $49,990 down to $46,990. The extended range drops from $55,990 down to $52,000. The ATTO 3 also gets a price drop with the Standard Range now $52,990 (formerly $56,990), Standard Range $55,990 (formerly $59,990) and the Tachyon $64,990 (formerly $68,990).

Nissan Leaf now under $40k

Nissan NZ is offering demonstrator Leaf models starting from $39,990 for the 39kWh variant. That’s driveaway pricing too, a decent saving on the original $63,990 list price. The Leaf e+ 59kWh was $72,990 but the demonstrators are now $46,990. And these come with the balance of a five year warranty. Click here for more details

More discounts

Volkswagen is still offering up to $15K off on its electric ID SUVs with the ID.4 available from $59,990, down from its original $74,990. The GWM Ora is currently available from $42,990 + ORC, a saving of $5000. The long range version is now down to $47,990. Over at MG, there is an OMG factory bonus of $3000 back on the ZS EV and a $2000 back when you buy a MG4.

How about some airpoints?

Audi is gifting buyers of its Audi e-tron GT and RS e-tron GT 20,000 Airpoints Dollars. As they say ‘delivering an unmatched experience both on the road and in the air, this offer is truly in a class of its own. Details here
