Trackhouse Racing has signed Shane van Gisbergen to a development program in 2024 which will see the three-time Supercars champion compete in a combination of each of NASCAR’s three national series.

Van Gisbergen has taken the North American motorsport scene by storm since his debut on the Chicago Street Course in July when he became the first debutant Cup Series race winner in 60 years. He has since gone on to finish in the top ten on the Indianapolis Road Course and come home 19th in his debut oval race running in the Truck Series.

His 2024 contract sees him running select events in the Truck Series, Xfinity Series, and Cup Series.

His 2024 race schedule is yet to be announced, but he seems set for a busy campaign as he gets up to speed in the series.

“This announcement means so many things to me,” he said in a release from the team. “I’m proud of what I have achieved here in Australia, but I’m excited by this new chapter in my career and the opportunities that it brings.

“I’m so thankful to everyone who has played a role in my career so far, especially Triple Eight Race Engineering, and looking forward to finishing our year with a few more highlights!

“It is time for a new challenge and this adventure into NASCAR will be the biggest challenge of my career and one I’m really looking forward to. I want to thank Justin Marks (Trackhouse founder and owner) and everyone at Trackhouse Racing who have taken a chance on me and given me this opportunity. I’m excited to get to America and get the season started.”

Team founder Justin Marks said: “This is going to be a tremendous challenge for Shane, but he is a tremendous driver, as we have all seen. Next year will be about getting him acclimated to oval track racing, superspeedways, 1.5-mile tracks, and everything he has never experienced in his career. It’s obviously going to be a learning process, but we think Shane will perform quite well.”

Van Gisbergen will be on the track this weekend when he partners with Richie Stanaway in the Sandown 500. He will see out the remainder of 2023 in Supercars, as well as competing in various other forms of racing, including the Daybreaker Rally and the Highlands 6-Hour.
