The top-of-the-line Kia EV6 GT will arrive on our shores later this month, bringing with it the status of the fastest electric car to come out of Korea.
Kiwis will be delighted to hear the fully electric performance model will launch with a suite of unique performance and cosmetic components as well as an “ultra fast” charging capability.
It’s performance is drawn from two electric motors delivering a combined 430kW and 740Nm of torque, allowing the halo model to accelerate from 0 to 100km/h in 3.5 seconds.
Recharging the 77.4 kWh battery from 10 to 80 per cent takes approximately 18 minutes with a fast charger, but a full charge provides 400km of driving range.
The EV6 GT sets itself apart with unique styling cues including neon green accents as found on the brake calipers and interior. A rear diffuser makes up the rear of the car while 21-inch alloy wheels wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tyres can also be found on each corner.
It also gets upgraded suspension with electronically controlled damping, short ratio steering, a stiffer chassis, large 380mm and 360mm respective front and rear discs, and a limited slip differential.
Towing capability comes to 1800kg while the EV6 GT can share its charge thanks to vehicle-to-load (V2L) sockets on the interior and an optional exterior adapter.
“The Kia EV6 GT is the most powerful and fastest model to ever wear the Kia badge, it is the new halo model for the brand and is a massive statement of intent for us,” said Managing Director of Kia New Zealand, Todd McDonald.
“This is one incredibly special car and is the epitome of what a GT should be, a spacious and comfortable vehicle capable of devouring touring kilometres with ease, with power and performance available when required.”

The Kia EV6 GT is priced from $139,990 plus ORC and will be available at dealerships nationwide later on in March 2023.
