Hyundai has revealed the design of its second addition to the electric only Ioniq range, describing the new Ioniq 6 as an ‘electrified streamliner’.
Taking inspiration from Hyundai’s Prophecy EV Concept, key features of the 6’s design include an aerodynamically sculpted body that Hyundai say is both ethical and unique, alongside a human-centric interior.
The front and rear of the car were ‘stretched’ to optimise interior space resulting in a streamlined silhouette and spacious interior.
A low nose, active front air flaps, wheel gap reducers, and optional slim digital side mirrors equate to a drag coefficient of 0.21.
Another brand adopting a similar approach with its latest EV’s design is Volkswagen. The ID.Aero incorporates an aerodynamic focus into its exterior but just falls short of the Ioniq 6’s drag coefficient at 0.23.

Stepping inside, passengers are greeted with a ‘cocoon-shaped’ interior that makes use of sustainable materials and plenty of tech.
A modular 12-inch touchscreen infotainment display accompanies an equally sized digital cluster accompanied by dual colour ambient lighting.
The Ioniq 6 utilises Hyundai’s Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP) shared with the Hyundai Ioniq 5, Kia EV6, and Genesis GV60.
We can expect to see more of the Ioniq 6 at its world premiere in July.
