BYD shows off electric supercar dancing on the spot

BYD is gearing up to debut its new electric supercar at the Shanghai Auto Show next week but before then, it has shown the vehicle “dancing” in a YouTube video.

Called the Yangwang U9, the upcoming model was initially unveiled at the start of this year as part of its new luxury brand.

We’ve now been given a glimpse of what it can do as far as its suspension goes with the Chinese carmaker making it move side to side, up and down, and even jumping it on the spot.

It’s dancefloor-worthy moves are thanks its suspension system called DiSus, which BYD claims is “the most advanced vehicle body control system” in the global automotive industry.

To back up its claim, the brand released a second video showing the car driving on three wheels.

In terms of performance, it was previously reported that the electric supercar can accelerate from 0 to 100km/h in 2 seconds thanks to its four electric motors producing a combined 960kW.

Figures like that come close to that of the Rimac Nevera so we are eager to see what the U9 can do when it’s fully revealed.

Not much else is known about the rest of its technical appointments but some reports suggest it can travel up to 700km on a single charge.

Images of the car that were recently released show that new aerodynamic elements have been added which include a new front splitter and rear wing.

It isn’t known whether these apply to a special-edition of the car as suggested by the “Ultimat” nameplate on its windscreen or whether the additions will appear on all models.

We can expect to find out more about the new electric supercar from BYD when it goes on display at the Shanghai Auto Show next week.
