SsangYong reveals electric ute in trio of concepts

SsangYong, now rebranded as KG Mobility, has revealed a trio of new concepts at the 2023 Seoul Motor Show, one of which is a fully electric ute that looks remarkably similar to the upcoming Torres EVX.

The Korean carmaker is getting itself back on track following years of financial woes thanks to its new owner coming on board, with the brand unveiling a handful of models over the past year.

Now comes the emergence of three new concepts that will likely inform the look of its future lineup, including a brightly-coloured electric ute called the O100 which could become a replacement for the Rhino.

Little is known about the dual-cab ute but its clear it has adopted much of its styling from the aforementioned Torres EVX which some publications suggest it’s based on.

If so, that would mean you’ll likely find a BYD-derived battery underneath connected to what we presume will be a dual electric motor setup, providing drive to all four wheels.

Also on display at the auto show was a new SUV, dubbed F100, boasting a Toyota FJ Cruiser-looking exterior with rugged fenders that shroud chunky wheels and tyres beneath.

Rounding out the three concepts is the KR10 which takes after the old, Jeep-looking Korando SUV.

Both SUVs are thought to be based on an all-new EV platform that KG Mobility revealed at the motor show.

South Korean media outlets report that production versions of the three concepts are due out locally by the end of 2025, according to Drive.

There’s no mention of international sales or whether we’ll receive the new SsangYong/KG Mobility electric ute at this point.
