Suzuki Jimny goes retro with ‘Heritage’ edition

Suzuki Australia has just launched its retro take on the ever-so popular Jimny by creating a ‘Heritage’ edition.

The humble four-wheel drive has no doubt earned a throwback model considering it started its life in the late 1960s and later evolved into quite a capable little thing throughout the 70s, 80s, and 90s.

We’ve now been taken back to its roots thanks to the addition of orange and red retro graphics that flow along each side of the off-roader and wrap around the rear door.

A “Jimny Heritage” decal also sits proudly over the rear wheels on either side while red mud flaps, a cargo tray and build badge also add to the special edition model’s specification.

Just 300 ‘Heritage’ editions will be made and can be finished in a choice of four colours including white, grey, black, and green.

The model is based on the Australian-market GLX (Sierra in New Zealand) which gives you a 7-inch infotainment touchscreen, LED headlights, and 15-inch alloy wheels.

The standard 75kW and 130Nm naturally aspirated 1.5-litre four-cylinder sits under the bonnet while the limited edition model will be offered with four-wheel drive and a five-speed manual only.

Suzuki Australia has priced the model at $AU33,490 not including on-road costs.

Unfortunately for Kiwis, we won’t be getting the Suzuki Jimny Heritage edition as it’s an Australian only model. However, that isn’t stopping you from getting the sticker sheet out and coming up with your own retro design.
