Iconic Schumacher Ferrari F1 car up for sale

Michael Schumacher was the King of winning in Formula 1 during the late ’90s and early 2000s.

So, just maybe, it makes this piece of Schmacher history even rarer. 

This particular Ferrari F3000 up for sale was what Schumacher raced in the 1998 Japanese Grand Prix, the last race of the season and the curtain fall of the enthralling Schumacher/Mika Hakkinen title fight.

Schumacher needed to beat his McLaren foe to win that year’s title. He got off to the best start too, qualifying on pole position.

However, he stalled on the formation lap and was forced to start the race from the back of the grid.

After scything his way through the field to be as high as third, Schumacher’s charge grounded to a halt when he ran over some debris and picked up a puncture.

Hakkinen won the race and his first of two world championships.

Now, some two decades later, the exact car Schumacher drove in that race is up for sale. 

All it will cost you is 4.9 million American dollars (NZ $7.1 million).

It even has a buy now, pay later option with fixed monthly instalments of $43,000.

What you get, however, is a V10 rear-wheel-drive monster that can punch out 600kW of power at 17,300 rpm.
