Hurricane Ian floods McLaren P1 in Florida

McLaren P1 flooded by Hurricane Ian

A McLaren P1 has succumbed to the waves in the US state of Florida as a result of Hurricane Ian… just over a week after it was purchased.

Instagram user ‘@lambo9286’, or Ernie, is the owner of the multi-million dollar hypercar. He posted a series of images showing the P1 submerged under water in his lower floor garage as the storm set in.

It only got worse from that point as the current became so strong that it picked the car up off the ground and sent it through his garage door, out onto the street.

Ernie said the car only had 482km on the odometer when he purchased it.

To add insult to injury, his Rolls-Royce Phantom also met the same fate. Both cars are undoubtedly totalled as a result of water damage.

These weren’t the only two high-dollar vehicles to be affected as images courtesy of ‘@HooviesGarage’ on Twitter show what the storm did to both a Plymouth Road Runner and Dodge Daytona.

I’m sure both will be completely restored again, too rare and too valuable, and can be stripped down to bare metal and start over. The P1 is a lost cause. So sad! https://t.co/Wo50mO2VCu

The aftermath saw the Road Runner end up on its roof while the Daytona stayed the right way up, both water damaged. It is thought that the classic muscle cars can be restored.

While the cars may be a painful loss to their owners, at least they’re still alive. Hurricane Ian has sadly killed many and devastated the lives of many others.
