Highlands Motorsport Park is giving away a Lamborghini

In what can only be described as one of the more unique motoring giveaways we’ve seen on New Zealand soil in recent times, Highlands Motorsport Park organisers have confirmed that they were be giving away the circuit’s faithful Lamborghini Huracan to one lucky punter.

The giveaway will form part of the circuit’s 10th anniversary celebrations, which take place exactly two years from now in 2023 on November 23-26.

These celebrations will be held around the New Zealand Endurance Championship grand finale, an event which includes the leading contenders from the Golden Holmes North Island Endurance Seies and the Carters Tyres South Island Endurance Series.

The Huracan in question will be instantly familiar to plenty of race fans as a regular safety car and hot lap car at both Highlands and Hampton Downs Motorsport Park in Waikato.

“While it cannot claim to have one lady owner, and only driven on Sundays, it has delighted many customers over the last seven years”, said the circuit in its press release.

Circuit owner Tony Quinn, having recently acquired Bruce McLaren Motorsport Park in Taupo, has teased that there’s more prizes in store for the event, saying that he wants the event to have the largest prize pool of any local motorsports meeting.

Along with the Lamborghini offering, VelocityNews writes that there’s also a suggestion that the event could feature some form of cash giveaway for spectators, similar to the successful Tui ‘Catch a Million’ cricket match promotion from several years ago.

“I’ve tasked the team to come up with something out of the box for this event, and to show I mean business, I’ve put the Hampton’s Lamborghini in the prize pool,” Quinn said.

“I’m determined that the prize pool will be the biggest New Zealand has seen – for competitors and for the public, as well ensuring there is plenty of action on and off the track.”

“We’ve proudly hosted the NZ Endurance Championship as our marquee event at Highlands for the last six years, focusing on championing NZ motorsport,” adds Highlands CEO Josie Spillane.

“It was only right that our tenth birthday showcases the very best of NZ stars and cars, with a few ‘invited’ Aussie cousins.

“We’ve been delighted with the support from NIERDC and SIERDC and we are all really excited about delivering a very special and entertaining event.”
