Xiaomi SU7 Ultra looking fast

Chinese firm Xiaomi has revealed the SU7 Ultra. It’s being touted as a Taycan Turbo GT rival thanks to a 1138kW output from its tri-motor powertrain. It should handle okay too with chassis tuning by Prodrive.

How quick is the Xiaomi SU-7 Ultra?

PDQ, TBH, supposedly hitting 100km/h in 1.98 seconds while going on to top more than 330km/h.

The car will go on sale in China at the end of the year priced at CNY814,900, which equates to $190,000 Kiwi, or half the price of the Turbo GT.

The car uses Xiaomi’s new Hyperengine V8S motor which can spin to 27,000 RPM. There are two of these on the rear axle each developing 425kW. Up front is a V6S motor which makes 288kW. That equates to a substantial power bump over the four-wheel drive SU-7 which has a piddling 643kW. The Ultra also has around 300kW more than the Taycan Turbo GT.

The Ultra rolls on the Modena EV platform with its 800 volt electrical architecture and has a CATL battery with a 93kWh capacity.

The more interesting bits are those developed by Prodrive.

These include Bilstein Evo T1 dampers and the AP Racing braking system with 430mm carbon ceramic discs upfront with four pot calipers.

Prodrive prepared a prototype of the SU7 Ultra with a bit more aerodynamic ability, which helped it set a time around the Nurburgring of 6 minutes 46.8 seconds. But as you can see the wing and front splitter are quite a lot larger than the regular items.
