Wild Ferrari-driven supercar makes track appearance and it sounds as menacing as it looks

by Zane Shackleton
February 17, 2022

The Starship Enterprise’s road-going cousin has hit the race track, and it sounds just as extreme as it looks.

Built by British racing team Veloqx and their owner Sam Li, the Veloqx Fangio track car is one serious weapon. One the team hopes can go all the way to the top.

“I am committed to trying to win Le Mans under the Veloqx name,” Li told Autosport.

The Veloqx Fangio is the result of taking an already cool Ferrari F12 and giving it one expensive makeover.

Souped-up bodywork gives this racer a menacing guise. A look that screams: I’m built for the track, and I have serious anger issues to boot.

There’s a skyscraper of a rear wing that gives you Supra vibes, a sharp-looking front end and one monstrous diffuser.

It seems Li has kept a bit of Ferrari love left in the Fangio. A 6.3-litre naturally aspirated V12, the same engine found in a traditional F12, is what makes the track car get up and go.

Li has also said he wants the Fangio to run on clean bio-fuels for any potential Le Mans attack.

But does it go as fast as it looks? Well, we’re not sure. The car made its first actual public track appearance overnight at the Yas Marina circuit in Abu Dhabi. No lap times were recorded, but there is footage of the test. So at least we know it sounds good.

The best news for the millionaires reading this is Li intends to make a handful of road-going Fangios. You know, just so you can annoy all those Ferrari purists out on the street.
