Skoda has revealed the name and first images of its all-new entry-level electric SUV, and it’s Epiq.
The new model will be fully revealed in 2025 and go on sale for around €25k in Europe, which roughly converts to around $44k in New Zealand dollars. However, it has yet to be confirmed for our market.
Nothing has been mentioned as far as how many electric motors it has or how big the battery is, but we can expect a range of more than 400km, placing it in the same ball court as the Jeep Avenger.
It’ll also feature bidirectional charging, effectively turning the car into a drivable energy supply that can power homes and appliances.
Skoda tells us that the Epiq measures 4100mm in length, has space for five passengers, and will accommodate up to 490 litres of luggage.
As for its styling, there’s plenty of ‘Modern Solid’ design language going on here, including a sculpted bonnet with the Czech brand’s name now spelt out on the front instead of a logo, T-shaped daytime running lights, and a grouchy lower front bumper with a slotted grille.
Elsewhere, a set of aerodynamically optimised wheels help define the Epiq’s stubby side profile, alongside a sloping roofline, much of which is made from glass.
The interior has been designed with minimalism, sustainability, and durability in mind, while modern touches like a wireless smartphone charging box and a large central infotainment display are also present.
You’ll find plenty of ‘Simply Clever’ features inside too, like various storage compartments, bag hooks, fastening hooks, and a hidden compartment under the boot floor.
“The coming Skoda Epiq will package a lot of car for an attractive price and a big interior with a compact size,” says Klaus Zellmer, CEO of Skoda.
“Our customers want choices, which is why we are expanding our growing e-mobility portfolio into this popular segment. I hope these first design teasers demonstrate that the Epiq will shine because of its modern design, everyday range and user-friendly technologies – all of it affordable.”
Skoda plans to reveal the Epiq in full later this year before production begins in Pamplona, Spain.
