Order books now open for Kiwi Chevrolet Corvette C8 buyers

by Matthew Hansen
June 9, 2021

General Motors Specialty Vehicles has confirmed that orders are now open for the much anticipated new Chevrolet Corvette C8 on both sides of the Tasman.

As part of the announcement, the distributor also confirmed pricing for the Carbon Edition variant. Available solely as a coupe, it will be priced from $197,990. This puts it on top of the Corvette totem down under. Well, at least until some of the go-faster models debut.

The package adds carbon fibre highlights on the dashboard and door cards, new ‘Trident’ wheels, a carbon fibre roof, an engine lighting package with carbon closeout panels, a build plate, and more.

As previously reported, the remainder of the line-up is made up of the 2LT coupe and convertible and 3LT coupe and convertible. Both models will come standard with the Z51 Performance Package and Front Lift.

The 2LT pairing are priced at $154,990 (coupe) and $169,990 (convertible) respectively, while the 3LT pairing wear a sticker of $169,990 (coupe) and $184,990 (convertible).

“The long wait is over, the books are open and our Dealers are ready to place orders,” said the Director of GMSV, Joanne Stogiannis.

“Excitement and anticipation have been building since the reveal of the C8 right-hand drive programme almost two years ago, even more so when we released recommended retail pricing for 2LT and 3LT models in late March.

“The build-up to this point will be sure to reach a real crescendo with release of the pricing and specification of the Carbon Edition.”

The right-hand drive Corvette only made its debut over the weekend at Fuji Speedway in Japan, as NZ Autocar reported yesterday. The event had been slated to be a product showcase for those who had ordered the car in Japan, but due to Covid-19 it ended up being a simple demonstration event.

The new Corvette is expected to arrive in New Zealand in late 2021.
