Nissan reveals sharp Hyper Urban concept ahead of public debut

Later this month, Nissan will debut a line-up of concept cars at the Japan Mobility Show, each of which will be revealed in digital form before the event kicks off. The first of those concepts is this, the Hyper Urban.
Its purpose is to capture the hearts and minds of its intended users, whom the Japanese carmaker describes as urban- and suburban-based professionals striving for sustainability in their lives.
With that in mind, Nissan decided to style the Hyper Urban in a way that matches its users’ tastes, blends in with its environment, and most importantly, makes a bold statement.
In fact, we think “bold” is more of an understatement when it comes to the paper-cut sharp angles that feature on the Hyber Urban.
Starting at the front, its sloped-down nose features a central light strip that runs across the entire width of the vehicle, a motif mirrored by the taillight, with both being connected with a dead straight beltline line that rakes up towards the rear-most pillar.
The curved wheel arches enclose a set of funky-looking wheels that feature a triangular design.
Access to the interior is gained via scissor doors at the front and gullwing doors at the back, welcoming occupants into a cabin inspired by kaleidoscopic triangles. Once inside, the instrument display can be customised according to the driver’s mood, while the front seats can collapse and fold into the back seats, almost like a sofa.
It isn’t all just looks and comfy spaces though, as the Hyper Urban concept is also quite handy around the house for the electric powertrain features vehicle-to-home and vehicle-to-grid capability. Therefore, it can power an entire dwelling or feed electricity back into the power grid to earn its owner’s a bit of extra cash.
To keep things feeling fresh, Nissan has implemented ways to update both the concept’s hardware and software, like being able to change out the instrument panel for something newer.
The Nissan Hyper Urban concept will make its debut alongside a line-up of other concepts at the Japan Mobility Show 2023 from October 26 to November 5.
