Lexus New Zealand has confirmed that its smallest model ever made, the LBX, will also be the most affordable in its entire line-up when it lands here later this year.

A total of five variants are available for Kiwis to choose from, with the front-wheel drive-only Active starting off the range at $58,900 plus on-road costs (ORC).

The entry-level front-wheel drive model comes with a set of dark grey metallic and machined 18-inch wheels, a two-tone paint job, black synthetic leather seats, and a host of safety and driver assistance features as standard.

Stepping up to the Relax, which is priced from $65,900 plus ORC ($68,900 for the all-wheel drive), you’ll also find that it rides on dark metallic 18-inch wheels but gains adaptive high beam headlights, black and dark grey leather seats, and a 13-speaker Mark Levinson sound system.

Also on offer is the Cool which matches the pricing of the Relax, but instead of dark metallic coloured wheels, it gets black 18-inch alloys. The Cool also gets Lexus’ automated parking feature, six front and rear parking sensors, multi-colour ambient lighting and a choice of black or tan leather seats.

In both the Relax and Cool, you’ll find a Panoramic View Monitor and a 12.3-inch head-up display inside.

The Active and Cool are available in eight colours, while the Relax comes with a choice of nine.

Each variant is fitted with a 1.5-litre three-cylinder petrol hybrid engine, inherited from the Toyota Yaris Cross upon which the LBX is based, with the Relax and Cool being offered with all-wheel drive.

Pre-orders are now open for the Lexus LBX ahead of its arrival in New Zealand showrooms in March 2024.
