KGM has confirmed its new Torres Hybrid SUV will arrive in New Zealand towards the end of 2025, joining the brand’s local line-up alongside the existing petrol-powered version.
The Torres Hybrid will be offered in two grades; Hybrid and Hybrid Ultimate, both carrying the same styling previewed at Fieldays earlier this year. According to KGM, strong public interest at the event played a key role in fast-tracking the model’s launch here.

Built around the company’s new Dual-Tech Hybrid System, the Torres Hybrid uses a self-charging setup that can switch seamlessly between petrol and electric power to maximise efficiency.

While New Zealand specifications are yet to be confirmed, the Torres Hybrid that is available in other export markets pairs a 120kW/280Nm 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine with an electric motor in a dedicated hybrid transmission. The motor draws power from a 1.83kWh LFP battery pack. An expected combined fuel use figure is in the 6.5L/100km area. The HEV also features multiple regenerative braking modes and enhanced cabin quietness.
Both variants will be covered by a five-year/100,000km warranty, and while local pricing and full specifications are still to be confirmed, Inchcape New Zealand General Manager Kym Mellow says the Torres Hybrid is a pivotal step for the South Korean brand’s electrification plans.

“The launch of the Torres Hybrid represents a pivotal step in KGM’s journey towards a New Energy Vehicle future,” Mellow said. “By delivering everyday electric driving without the plug-in compromise, the Torres Hybrid bridges the gap between traditional petrol SUVs and full EVs, offering customers an attainable, stylish, and practical path into electrified mobility.”
Standard equipment is expected to include a comprehensive suite of safety, infotainment, and comfort features designed to rival more expensive European and Japanese competitors.
