A new report out of the United Kingdom suggests that Jaguar is currently working on a large electric limousine that will act as the replacement for the deceased XJ.

The new model will be a four-seater and is expected to launch in 2025, according to British publication Autocar.

Jaguar also plans to release two crossover SUVs, one of which will be a similar size to the Bentley Bentayga, the report mentions.

All three models are said to ride on the British carmaker’s new JEA electric architecture, meaning each will come with all-wheel drive and four-wheel steering.

The new Jaguars will look entirely different from what the brand has released before. They’re even said to bear little resemblance to any artists’ impressions you may have seen floating around the internet over the past few years.

In fact, the new look is so different that all current Jaguar models will need to be pulled from the market by 2025 in order to have the most dramatic impact on buyers, according to comments made to Autocar by JLR CEO Adrian Mardell.

So what’s with the big reinvention then? Well, we can likely put it down to JLR’s rebrand halfway through this year which also saw the company invest Â£15 billion ($NZ30.7 billion) into EV manufacturing at its Halewood plant.

The company needs to do something as it has been losing market share for some time, its sedans in particular.
