Toyota New Zealand has quietly revealed pricing for its new hybrid Hilux on its website ahead of the model’s arrival later this year.

Just one specification will be offered from launch, the SR5 Cruiser Hybrid 4WD, which is available from $65,490. Compared to the non-hybrid variant, that’s a $2100 increase.

Under the bonnet, you’ll find the familiar 2.8-litre turbo diesel four-cylinder and six-speed automatic gearbox, only it’s now joined by a 48V electric motor generator and lithium-ion battery.

Power and torque output come to 150kW and 500Nm respectively, meaning there’s no increase over the non-hybrid. There is an improvement in fuel economy though, with the hybrid only sucking 8.7L/100km compared to 9.1L/100km.

When it comes to towing capacity, it maintains an industry-standard rating of 3500kg braked and 750kg unbraked.

While Toyota’s local website shows the hybrid Hilux wearing the same wide-body skin as the regular SR5 Cruiser 4WD, we understand the model will adopt the facelifted styling revealed for the model last month.

Inside, an 8-inch infotainment touchscreen feeds sound into a nine-speaker JBL sound system, while Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity comes as standard. Devices can be recharged wirelessly or via a single USB or two USB-C ports.

The Toyota Hilux SR5 Cruiser Hybrid 4WD is set to arrive from mid to late 2024.
