Has Hyundai cooked up an even hotter Ioniq 5 N?

In a post made to social media platform Instagram today, the performance arm of Hyundai teased a series of shadowy images showing its Ioniq 5 N dressed in boy racer-esque bodywork.

Although each photo leaves much to the imagination, the front angle of the electric hot hatch suggests a more aggressive front splitter has been bolted to the lower bumper, while we also made out a set of wider wheel arches.

Looking at the car from the side, a fairly sizable rear wing has been grafted to the top of the rear hatch, reminiscent of the one found on the Korean carmaker’s i30N TCR racecar, in addition to a gargantuan rear splitter.

It’s unknown whether any performance enhancements have been made to the pictured model, but it’ll at least boast 478kW and 770Nm of torque as produced by the standard Ioniq 5 N when placed into its ‘N Grin Boost’ mode.

Otherwise, that’s all we can say at this point as it hasn’t been confirmed whether this is a new variant of the Ioniq 5 N, a concept, or if it’s a show car put together to display a new range of aftermarket parts.

Considering it’s set to be revealed at the Toyko Auto Salon, one of the world’s biggest modified car shows, this could suggest it is in fact a concept. As for its name, we picked up on a hashtag that reads ‘NPX1’ which sounds somewhat experimental if you ask us; giving credit to the concept argument.

All will be revealed at the 2024 Tokyo Auto Salon when the event kicks off later this week on January 12.
