Benelli’s little boomer – TNT 125

Ever fancy a Grom or a Monkey bike but just can’t justify the pricing? Well now you can pick up something similarly cute in the form of Benelli’s TNT 125, which will set you back $4490 plus ORCs.

It has similar fun styling to the Grom, and seems to be similarly up for stunting antics. It’s also said to be customisable, though without quite the parts catalogue of the Grom.

That said, standard syling features are pretty cool, including a twin-stacked exhaust that reminds of a certain motorcycle art brand, trellis frame, bright colours and spider-like headlights.

Known in full as the Tornado Naked T 125, it features 12-inch wheels at each end, and an abbreviated 1215mm wheelbase while weighing in at just 124kg. Packing a 125cc twin-spark single cylinder air-cooled engine that develops 8.2kW (11hp) and 9.6Nm, power is delivered through a five-speed transmission, and it’s evidently enough to run it to 100km/h so is good for commuting fun. Fuel efficiency is rated at 2.35L/100km and there’s 7.2L of fuel in a topped up tank. It’s LAMS legal too, naturally.

Brakes are combined but don’t feature ABS which means stoppies are possible if you hit the 220mm front disc hard enough. There’s a 190mm unit on the rear.

Seat height is 780mm and with high bars and low pegs the TNT125 is said to offer a comfy, easy riding position. Helping with ride quality is adjustable preload of the horizontal monoshock, and there are fixed inverted 41mm forks up front. It has an LCD dash that includes a fuel gauge, clock, and trip meters but no gear indicator.

The bike is built in China by Benelli owner Qianjiang, itself owned by Geely. Styling is out of the R&D department based in Italy.

TNT 125 is available now in black, white, lime and red colours.
