Batur adds a Convertible

by Kyle Cassidy
May 8, 2024

The Bentley Batur, Crewe’s ultra exclusive coachbuilt special, can now be had as a convertible.

This follows on from the ‘exquisitely hand-crafted Bacalar barchetta and Batur coupe’.

Bentley says the Batur Convertible ‘continues its long tradition of crafting truly individual cars, tailored to the wishes of each of its extraordinary clients’.

W12 turned up to 11

Power comes from the same W12 engine as the other variants, here the ‘hand-assembled’ 6.0-litre twin-turbocharged engine pumps out 750hp. With revised intakes, upgraded turbochargers and new intercoolers, it produces 1000Nm. With production of the W12 coming to an end, the Batur Convertible will be one of the last Bentleys to use this unique donk.

It is paired with the eight-speed dual clutch trans and breathes out via a titanium sports exhaust, complete tips that are 3D-printed in the space age alloy.

Ultra refined GT convertible

The convertible is said to have a styling theme that ‘not only blends the design of the Bacalar and Batur but includes the usability of a convertible. The designers also chose to highlight the two-seater character with a ‘wraparound’ cockpit inspired by the design of the Bacalar’.

An ‘airbridge’ behind the seats and ‘tapered cowls’ are said to ‘hark back to the barchetta sports cars of old’. Bentley says this conveys the ‘promise of a dynamic, driver-focused adventure in a cosseting, cocooned environment’.

The roof combines multi layers of insulation and acoustic treatments and opens up in 19 seconds, and at speeds of up to 50km/h.

Customisation the key

Every Batur Convertible is designed in conjunction with its buyer, the Mulliner department working with each owner to ‘co-create’ every car to the individual’s tastes.

“Customers will be able to specify the colour and finish of practically every surface of the Batur Convertible, to create a car as individual as they are. Beyond the exterior form of the car lies an almost endless array of choices for each car’s future owner to make”.

The paint choice is said to be infinite, and customers can also add their touch to the colour and treatment of the Airbridge, tonneau cover and roof materials. Inside, buyers can opt for a 3D printed rose gold treatment for key driver touch points.

Production will be limited to just ‘16 pieces’.
