The local arm of Hyundai has today confirmed the pricing and specification of the new Kona for NZ.

Kiwis will have a choice of four variants when the second-generation model lands later this year, with a fully electric version set to join the line-up in 2024.

Starting off the range is the Kona Active which is priced at $42,990, featuring a petrol 2.0-litre four-cylinder that sends 110kW and 180Nm of torque through a continuously variable transmission (CVT). An optional N Line package is available at an extra cost, bringing the total price to $49,990.

Kiwis will also be able to spec their Kona Active with a 1.6-litre four-cylinder hybrid that produces 146kW and 265Nm of torque, mated to a six-speed dual clutch automatic for $52,990. Tacking on the N Line package brings the price to $59,990.

Pricing for the Kona Elite has yet to be revealed but customers will be able to choose from the two aforementioned engines that feature on the Active variant.

At the top of the range sits the Kona Limited N Line which adopts the same 1.6-litre hybrid drivetrain found in the rest of the range for $65,990. A non-hybrid turbocharged version of the same engine coupled with an eight-speed automatic and all-wheel drive system will be offered for $64,990.

All Kona models will come with alloy wheels as standard, as well as LED headlights and taillights, and dual-zone climate control.

Those who opt for higher-specification variants will get a Bose eight-speaker sound system and a power tailgate.

Limited N Line variants will receive an additional Parking Collision Avoidance Assist-Reverse (PCA-R), Blind Spot View Monitor (BVM), and Surround View Monitor (SVM).

The first deliveries of the new Hyundai Kona will begin in the fourth quarter of 2023.
