Chinese EV maker XPENG has confirmed it will launch in New Zealand before the end of 2025, with its first showroom set to open in Auckland.
It will be launching with the recently updated G6, a medium-sized SUV.

In Australia, where XPENG is already on sale, the G6 is offered in Standard and Long-range formats, the former with a 435km range, the latter with 570km. Both are rear-wheel drive and have 440Nm of torque while the Long-range version has 210kW of power, 20 more than the Standard range, giving it a 0-100 time of 6.2 seconds. Pricing starts at $AU54,800.
The Auckland dealership will give Kiwi customers direct access to XPENG vehicles, test drives, sales and aftersales support. From early 2026, the brand plans to expand further with outlets in Wellington, Christchurch, Tauranga and Hamilton.

Founded in 2014, XPENG says it combines advanced technology with AI-powered innovation. Its vehicles are known for integrating intelligent driver-assistance systems, connected services and premium design, underpinned by the brand’s next-generation electronic/electrical (E/E) architecture. This platform supports fast over-the-air updates, scalable features, and lays the foundation for XPENG’s ambitions in robotics and flying vehicles.
“New Zealand is a natural launchpad for XPENG’s operation, given its strong focus on innovation, sustainability, and premium driving experiences,” said Damian Royce, Head of Marketing for XPENG New Zealand. “These are values that align perfectly with our DNA. We are confident we can deliver world-class service and accelerate EV adoption across the country.”
Other XPENG models include the G9, a larger more luxurious SUV, and the X9, a funky looking seven seat people mover.

Headquartered in Guangzhou, China, XPENG is listed on both the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE: XPEV) and the Hong Kong Exchange (HKEX: 9868). The brand already operates across China, Europe, and North America.
