Volkswagen’s new Crafter undergoes a digital update

Volkswagen has introduced enhanced technology in a Crafter refresh. The latest model combines updated digital tools, added safety features and a modernised design.

The interior sees a full upgrade with a 10-inch touchscreen display and infotainment system that is now standard across the range. Whoever is driving can easily switch between different views to access navigation, phone calls, media, and other vehicle information. This is controlled by buttons on the multifunction steering wheel.

Body types galore

Available in a wide range of body types: panel van, drop side, cab chassis, camper, and heavy-duty solutions, this generation remains fully customisable. There’s a selection of roof heights, wheelbases, and lengths so you can fashion your Crafter according to your needs.

Further interior updates include an electronically operated parking brake while the gear selector for automatic models moves to the steering column. Connectivity improvements include USB-C ports and an inductive wireless charging option for smartphones.

New driver aids include Front Assist with AEB, and Lane Assist for added ease on longer drives. A speed limiter offers extra peace of mind during highway running, while Rear Park Distance Control means added confidence when reversing. 

Models over 3.5 tonnes benefit from integrated blind spot monitoring, moving-off assist, and turning assist.

Front and rear or AWD options

The Crafter continues to offer front-wheel, rear-wheel, and 4Motion all-wheel drive options to suit various needs.

Transmission choices include a six-speed manual, and an eight-speed automatic specifically designed for rear-wheel drive models, providing smoother gear shifts. 

Four-cylinder turbodiesel engines deliver 103kW, 120kW, and 130kW, combining performance with economy and reliability.

Pricing begins at $91,000 plus on road costs and includes three scheduled services. Test drives are available at authorised Volkswagen dealerships nationwide.
