Volkswagen New Zealand has announced pricing for the all-new Tayron, a seven-seat SUV that will sit above the Tiguan in the brand’s line-up. Local buyers can expect the Tayron in showrooms soon, priced from $78,990 for the Elegance and $96,990 for the sportier R-Line.

Inside, the Tayron offers a generous 850 litres of luggage space, which expands to 1905 litres with the rear seats folded flat. The cabin is trimmed with quality materials and equipped with Volkswagen’s latest infotainment system, featuring a larger screen in the R-Line alongside leather seating and a surround-view camera system.

Engines and Performance
Both variants are powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine with all-wheel drive and a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. The Elegance develops 150kW/320Nm, returns 8.0L/100km. The R-Line ups output to 195kW/400Nm, returns 8.8L/100km, and adds performance-focused styling and features.

Both models come with adaptive damping suspension, and each is rated to tow up to 2.5 tonnes.

Safety and Ownership
The Tayron is equipped with Volkswagen’s full suite of driver assistance and safety systems, with a particular emphasis on family-friendly protection. Buyers will also receive three years of scheduled servicing.
