Volkswagen New Zealand has announced pricing for the all-new Tayron, a seven-seat SUV that will sit above the Tiguan in the brand’s line-up. Local buyers can expect the Tayron in showrooms soon, priced from $78,990 for the Elegance and $96,990 for the sportier R-Line.

Space Meets Style

Volkswagen says the Tayron has been designed to balance everyday practicality with premium appeal. With its sleek exterior and versatile seven-seat layout, the SUV targets Kiwi families who want extra space without sacrificing refinement.

Inside, the Tayron offers a generous 850 litres of luggage space, which expands to 1905 litres with the rear seats folded flat. The cabin is trimmed with quality materials and equipped with Volkswagen’s latest infotainment system, featuring a larger screen in the R-Line alongside leather seating and a surround-view camera system.

Engines and Performance

Both variants are powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine with all-wheel drive and a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. The Elegance develops 150kW/320Nm, returns 8.0L/100km. The R-Line ups output to 195kW/400Nm, returns 8.8L/100km, and adds performance-focused styling and features.

Both models come with adaptive damping suspension, and each is rated to tow up to 2.5 tonnes.

Safety and Ownership

The Tayron is equipped with Volkswagen’s full suite of driver assistance and safety systems, with a particular emphasis on family-friendly protection. Buyers will also receive three years of scheduled servicing.

Positioned for Kiwi Families

The arrival of the Tayron gives Volkswagen New Zealand a fresh contender in the large SUV market, joining rivals such as the Hyundai Santa Fe, Kia Sorento, and Mazda CX-90.
