Suzuki is bringing in two all-new SUVs to Australia and that means we will get them here as well. That’s something Suzuki NZ has already confirmed.
One is the all-new Fronx Hybrid which is launching here next week, and the other is Suzuki’s first fully electric four-wheeler, the e Vitara, due out next year.

Fronx Hybrid arriving soon
The All-New Fronx nameplate, which is an amalgam of “Frontier” and “Crossover,” introduces a coupe-style SUV in an easy-to-drive compact body.
Suzuki Australia General Manager for Automobile, Mr. Michael Pachota, said “With the launch of the all-new Fronx Hybrid, we’re combining unique sporty styling with SUV heritage, to deliver an exciting new product to our line-up.

“Not only does it solidify our presence in the light SUV segment, but this vehicle will also open the doors to younger buyers looking to upgrade from a smaller hatchback to an SUV”.
Produced in India by Maruti Suzuki, Fronx is just under 4m long and has boot space of 308L. Export models evidently take the mild hybrid 1.5L engine that drives the front wheels through a six-speed auto.
While it goes on sale in Australia in September, expect it to be available here in July.
E Vitara here around Easter
Suzuki Australia is only just getting Vitara Hybrid now but early next year in Q1, e Vitara will arrive on both sides of the Tasman.
The e Vitara captures the essence of the “Emotional Versatile Cruiser”. It combines a sleek design with a BEV powertrain that evidently delivers nimble performance and a sharp driving experience. Its electric 4WD system – “ALLGRIP-e” – provides not only off-road capability but also confident performance on any surface, says Suzuki.
The e Vitara is the company’s first four-wheeled foray into a fully electric vehicle, blending “performance, sustainability and style”.

“The e Vitara is our bold step into the future of mobility,” said Pachota.
“It delivers on everything Suzuki drivers expect including reliability, capability and value, and now zero-emissions performance. It’s a proud moment as we take our first leap into the electric space.”
Expect features and specifications closer to its launch. We do know however, that it comes with two battery sizes, 49 and 61kW. Both use LFP chemistry courtesy of BYD. There are two power outputs, 106 and 128kW. Well, three really for the top model gets the ALLGRIP-e 4wd set-up and has 135kW and 300Nm on tap. A single battery charge offers range of up to 400km. Production is out of the same facility that makes Fronx.
Meantime, look out for our ‘first drive’ report of Fronx next week.
