Triumph unveils all-new Trident 800

Triumph Motorcycles has pulled the wraps off its all-new Trident 800, a naked middleweight roadster designed to deliver a blend of real-world performance, sharp handling, and everyday usability. Building on the smaller Trident 660, this new 800 model ups the ante with a fresh design, more power, and added technology.

Set to arrive in New Zealand showrooms in early 2026 (from $17,490), the Trident 800 looks to bridge the gap between the 660 and the more aggressive Street Triple 765 RS.

Triple the Thrill

At the heart of the new Trident is a brand-new 798cc triple-cylinder engine, said to be designed from the ground up. Producing 115PS at 10,750rpm and 84Nm of torque at 8,500rpm, it promises instant throttle response, a fat mid-range, and a howl at the top end.

Triumph says the triple’s unique setup, featuring triple throttle bodies, a forged crank, and high-compression pistons, gives the bike addictive real-world performance that’s both refined and visceral. Sound is a big part of the Trident experience too, with the airbox and intake system tuned for a deep induction roar, feeding into an upswept sports silencer that delivers the Triumph triple soundtrack.

Lightweight Agility

Beneath its sculpted bodywork, the Trident 800 rides on a lightweight chassis paired with fully adjustable Showa suspension. The 41mm USD forks use big-piston internals for precise damping, while the rear monoshock allows preload and rebound adjustment to suit different riders and conditions.

Weighing 198kg fully fuelled, the Trident is designed to be nimble and confidence-inspiring. Wide handlebars and a compact frame geometry should give it lightning-fast reactions and predictable control. Braking power comes from twin 310mm front discs with four-piston radial calipers, while Michelin tyres keep things glued to the tarmac.

Tech-Loaded, Rider-Focused

Despite its minimalist looks, the Trident 800 is loaded with advanced rider aids. It features three riding modes; Road, Sport and Rain that adjust throttle response and traction control to suit the conditions. Triumph’s latest lean-sensitive Optimised Cornering ABS and Cornering Traction Control use real-time data to maintain stability through bends.

A 6-speed gearbox with Triumph Shift Assist enables clutchless up and downshifts, while cruise control adds long-ride comfort. Connectivity is handled through the My Triumph Bluetooth system, which syncs with the TFT dash for phone, music, and navigation functions. A crisp 3.5-inch colour display, all-LED lighting, and self-cancelling indicators complete the tech package.

Naked Style, Premium Finish

Visually, the Trident 800 has attitude. Its muscular fuel tank, minimal tail section, and short, upswept silencer give it a compact, aggressive stance.

Three colour options are offered: Ash Grey with Diablo Red detailing, Carnival Red with Graphite accents, and Jet Black for a stealthier look. A range of Genuine Triumph Accessories will also be available, including a lightweight Akrapovič titanium silencer and custom body detailing for riders who want to personalise their machine.

Designed to Ride, Built to Last

The Trident 800 comes with a two-year unlimited kilometre warranty and a 16,000km service interval.

Triumph Chief Product Officer Steve Sargent says the new model is aimed at riders who want “maximum excitement, anytime, anywhere.”

“The incredible popularity of the Trident 660 and the Street Triple 765 RS showed us how much riders value a thrilling, confidence-inspiring ride,” Sargent said. “With the Trident 800, we’ve taken that winning formula and dialled it up — more power, more attitude, and more fun.”

With its blend of lightweight agility, advanced rider tech, and that unmistakable triple-cylinder charisma, the Triumph Trident 800 looks ready to shake up the middleweight naked segment when it lands in New Zealand in January 2026.
