Triumph expands its Scrambler 400 range

by Peter Louisson
July 8, 2025

Triumph Motorcycles is expanding its 400cc range with the addition of the Scrambler 400 XC. this is essentially a more serious version of the Scrambler 400 X, adding even more off-road focus.

Like they say, a more off-road focus.

The XC model is distinguished by its side-laced spoked wheels on lightweight aluminium rims. The front measures 19 inches in diameter, the rear 17 inches. In addition to its rugged wheel set-up, it features a colour-coded high-level mudguard and flyscreen, handguards, an aluminium sump guard, and engine bars to protect against knocks from rocks.

Nice practical features as standard.

Offered in three colours, yellow, gray and white, each version has distinctive graphics, a black Triumph logo, tank infills with knee pads, and a black two-piece rider and pillion seat.

Paul Stroud, Triumph’s Chief Commercial Officer, commented: “With improved off-road capability and Scrambler attitude…we hope this model will appeal to even more riders, further enhancing and extending the appeal of the Triumph brand for the next generation.”

Adventurous

The Scrambler 400 XC features 43mm upside-down front forks and a rear piggy-back monoshock. Both ends offer 150mm of travel for all-terrain performance. Switchable traction control and ABS further enhance its off-road creds, providing flexibility and safety across various riding conditions.

Instruments include a large analogue speedometer with a digital LCD screen. There info on engine speed, fuel range, and a gear indicator. A handlebar-mounted scroll button makes navigation easy, while a USB-C charging socket keeps your phone juiced.

Up front is an LED headlight with Triumph DRLs, while a steering lock and anti-theft immobiliser are also fitted.

Scrambler Style

Styling features include a sculpted fuel tank with knee indents, an upswept silencer, gold anodised forks, a cast aluminium swingarm, and black powder-coated engine casings. The XC is lightweight and approachable for inexperienced riders, and has a moderate 835mm seat height. The riding position, with wide handlebars and high-grip foot pegs cater to both seated and standing off-road ergonomics.

Stopping power is by a four-piston radial brake caliper and a large 320mm front disc, with braking performance tuned for all conditions.

Singular Performance

Powering the Scrambler 400 XC is the TR-series 400cc single-cylinder engine, outputting 30kW and 38Nm. It is tuned ease of use, with a strong midrange.

Bosch engine management, ride-by-wire throttle, and a six-speed gearbox with a torque-assist clutch conspire to provide smooth, predictable power delivery and easier rider control.

Ownership Experience

The Scrambler 400 XC is backed by a two-year unlimited mileage warranty. Service intervals are set at 16,000km. For riders wanting to personalise their Scrambler, Triumph offers over 20 genuine accessories, covering comfort, luggage, style, and security. These are available via an online configurator and are also covered under the warranty.

The Triumph Scrambler 400 XC will arrive here in September, with pricing to be announced around that time.

XC builds on other off-road Triumphs with this nomenclature.
