Toyota GR GT-based Lexus LFA concept revealed with electric power

Revealed alongside Toyota’s new GR GT, the new Lexus LFA Concept is here.

While the last Lexus to wear the LFA badge was powered by one of the most iconic V10 engines of all time, this one will be exclusively electric.

It is noted that this LFA concept shares a lot with the V8-powered GR GT, including the aluminium frame and suspension system.

Powertrain details are yet to be revealed, but considering the performance of the old LFA, it’s likely this new one will be quick.

It will come in a two-seat configuration, with a very driver-focused cockpit. The displays look to stretch around the steering wheel.

Andrew Davis, Vice President of Lexus New Zealand, who is on the ground at the World Premiere in Japan, says this approach resonates strongly in New Zealand.

“We know our customers value innovation that feels intentional. The LFA Concept isn’t a science experiment. It’s a statement about where performance is heading and how important it is to preserve the craft of building great cars. It shows how a Lexus can deliver an experience behind the wheel that feels genuinely unique.”

The global reveal arrives as Lexus New Zealand celebrates a record year of sales.

“LFA has always represented the pinnacle of what Lexus is capable of. It’s where our engineers push themselves to redefine performance without compromising on design. As we celebrate a record sales year in New Zealand, it’s exciting to see the next chapter of LFA take shape as a BEV,” says Davis.

“The new LFA Concept shows that electrification and emotion are not opposites. It shows how performance, craftsmanship and sustainability can progress together. This is a car created to move people, both literally and emotionally.”
