The July 2025 issue of NZ Autocar is now on sale

by Alex Schultz
June 30, 2025

We’ve given you a few extra features this month, the July issue with 110 pages of the best automotive content you’ll find on this fine Island Nation of ours. What’s inside? Find out below.

BYD Media Tour

Managing Editor, Richard Edwards, heads to China to check out what BYD has in store for us down here. And there is plenty.

Kia Tasman

The Kia Tasman is nearly here, on sale in September, with a full line-up going head to head with Ranger, Hilux and the rest. Will it lay down a fierce challenge?

Kia EV4

Kia has another new electric vehicle inbound, but this time it’s not an SUV. Rather a cool-looking fastback. Richard Edwards drives it in Korea.

Toyota Land Cruiser Prado VX vs Ford Everest Tremor

Prado and Everest are do-it-all machines with an excess of capability and practicality. Which is the better buy?

Ram 1500 Limited

The Ram 1500 is no longer Hemi-powered, relying instead on a new six-cylinder engine. But fear not, it’s still a beast.

Cupra Terramar VZ

Cupra ramps up its efforts in the important hunting ground of the mid-size SUV, the Terramar its new offering here. It has premium aspirations, and a price tag to match. Is it worthy?

Honda e:N1

While Honda has dabbled in electric vehicle tech over the years, the e:N1 is its first full EV offering here in NZ. How does it stack up with competitors from less established brands?

Ford Ranger PHEV

Ford’s Ranger line-up is about to change forever with the addition of a PHEV model. What better way to really prove its worth than by sending it up an Icelandic volcano?

Cadillac Lyriq Luxury

We’re not used to new US brands entering the market and while Cadillac has been here in the past, this time it’s all-electric.

Mahindra XUV 3X0

Without a compact crossover you’re not in the hunt. Mahindra joins the swelling ranks with its new XUV 3XO.

GWM Tank 300 Ultra Diesel

The Chinese aren’t usually whimsical with their car names, quirky perhaps. But the Tank is different, vaguely resembling and turning like one, and now it has the motor it needed for towing.

Leapmotor C10 Ultra Hybrid

Leapmotor has added a second C10, this one a PHEV. We test its ultimate range with a Kiwi road trip.

JAC T9

What better way to come to grips with a double-cab ute than a trip away, especially if it involves forest tracks and fungi.

Audi RS 3 Sportback

We take a final fling in the RS 3 with the five-pot 2.5L engine. The facelifted model is still a joy. Auf Wiedersehen old friend.

2005 BMW M3

Each enthusiast will have their favourite generation of BMW’s M3. This clean looking E46 is the gen-three version, one with a melodious six-cylinder engine.

Moto Guzzi Stelvio

The current Stelvio is essentially a V100 Mandello turned scrambler/tourer. So it’s a gem.
