The Brabus AMG GT boasts 1000hp

Words NZ Autocar | Images Brabus

July 30, 2025

Take an AMG GT and trick it out. Brabus has done just that, creating the Brabus 1000 in the process. It’s based on the AMG GT 63 S E Performance. And yes, the E stands for electrified. The extra 147kW from the electrified rear axle is what takes total power output to four figures. However, it’s the engine update that is largely responsible for the overall power hike.

If you see this in the mirror, best you let it past.

For this is not your regular Mercedes-AMG GT Coupe. Figure on a massive update of AMG’s twin-turbocharged V8 engine. It now displaces 4.5 litres instead of 4.0 previously, while two new turbochargers with higher boost pressures enhance output further.

Big wheels and brakes you expect of a Brabus makeover.

Like the GT 63 S E Performance, this pairs a motor with the traditional petrol engine. But given the motor makes almost 200hp, that means V8 engine develops around 800bhp (nearly 600kW) to meet the 1000hp mark from which the car gets its name.

Horny baby, yeah.

This is the same powertrain that features in the four-door Brabus Rocket 1000. So the torque figure is potentially 1820Nm, although in this application it is limited to 1620Nm to protect the nine-speed automatic transmission.

Carbon everywhere you look.

Brabus suggests a sprint time of 2.6sec for the 1000. That’s 0.2 seconds faster than the AMG model it’s based on. It gets to 200km/h in 9.5sec. Top speed is limited to 317km/h.

Aero wing best for something that tops out near 200mph.

Styling updates include a new splitter, spoiler and wing, all made from carbon fibre, while the grille features new inserts on either side. Wheels are staggered 21- and 22-inch items.

Black livery looks the part too.

Height-adjustable suspension is new.

Special interior will add to the bottom line.

Brabus has reupholstered much of the cabin, replacing existing trim pieces with either gloss carbon or red anodised aluminium.

There’s no price attached as yet but expect lots of zeros.
