Svartpilen 801 is Husqvarna’s biggest naked bike yet

March 21, 2024

As promised in a recent preview, Husqvarna Motorcycles has now  launched its new middleweight naked scrambler-inspired motorcycle, the 2024 Svartpilen 801. With strong hints of off-road styling, the Svartpilen 801 is the largest displacement naked machine in the brand’s line-up.

Engineered to ‘escape the ordinary’, it weighs in at a lithe 181kg. The 801 is built around a chromoly tubular frame for a precise balance of flex and rigidity. Powering the Svartpilen 801 is a 799cc DOHC parallel-twin that weighs just 52kg dry. It generates peak power of 78kW (105hp) and features service intervals of 15,000km. Peak torque output is 87Nm.

A strong power to weight figure results in a ‘consistently agile and exciting ride’, according to Husqvarna. A Power Assist Slipper Clutch maximises traction under hard acceleration and prevents instability under hard braking, while an up and down quickshifter provides seamless gear changes. Adjustable WP Apex suspension offers 140mm of fork travel and 150mm of shock travel for a confident mix of comfort and handling, both in and out of town. Pirelli MT60 RS tyres are fitted to 17-inch wheels, and are said to provide good grip and feedback.

The new look Svartpilen 801 features LED lights, aluminium handlebars, slimline ergonomic bodywork and a two-piece seat offering decent comfort for longer rides and unrestricted movement.

Electronic aids include adjustable Traction Control, ABS, three ride modes (Street, Rain, and Sport), Motor Slip Regulation (MSR) for controlled deceleration, and an Anti-Wheelie function limiting the maximum wheelie angle. Cruise control is part of an option pack.

Brakes by J.Juan ensure good stopping power and are controlled by a corner-sensitive Bosch ABS system. A Supermoto ABS mode can be engaged if desired.

Other features include a five-inch TFT dashboard and the ability to have navigation, phone calls and music play via a smartphone app.

A range of accessories and riding gear will be available to enhance the performance and appearance of the 801 and its rider.

The 2024 Svartpilen 801 will go on sale worldwide from April 2024 so should arrive here around midyear.
