Subaru is set for the 2025 Japan Mobility Show, confirming the world premiere of two new STI concept models that preview the future of both electric and combustion-powered performance for the brand.
The show, running from October 29 to November 9 in Tokyo, will see Subaru’s booth divided into two themes; Performance Scene and Adventure Scene, showcasing the brand’s dual focus on driving excitement and all-terrain capability.

Dual Performance Debuts
Headlining the Performance Scene are two global reveals: the Performance-E STI Concept, a battery-electric performance vehicle, and the Performance-B STI Concept.
The Performance-E STI is described as a BEV spearheading Subaru’s next generation of performance, pairing striking proportions and aerodynamics with a practical, driver-focused interior. Subaru says it combines cutting-edge electric technology with the brand’s hallmark handling precision to deliver “intuitive, exhilarating driving experiences.”
Alongside it, the Performance-B STI Concept keeps Subaru’s heritage alive, powered by a horizontally opposed (boxer) engine and Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive. Subaru says the model showcases “advanced performance and power with practicality,” expanding the range of performance options available to enthusiasts.

Together, the two concepts represent Subaru’s split strategy, preserving its signature driving character in the combustion era while pushing forward into the age of electrification.
Adventure Scene: Wilderness and Beyond
The second half of Subaru’s display focuses on adventure and outdoor capability, featuring the E-Outback (Trailseeker) prototype, which makes its Japan debut, alongside the Forester Wilderness and Outback Wilderness prototypes. Rounding out the display is the 1983 Subaru GL Family Huckster, a nod to the brand’s rally-inspired heritage.
A “Different” Subaru
Subaru’s theme for this year’s show is “Driving the Subaru Difference”, reflecting its long-standing philosophy of human-centred engineering and its goal of delivering “enjoyment and peace of mind.”

“Subaru has always sought to balance driver enjoyment with real-world confidence,” said Subaru Corporation President Atsushi Osaki, who will present the company’s keynote speech on October 29. “Through both the Performance Scene and Adventure Scene, we aim to deepen our emotional connection with customers and show what makes Subaru truly different.”
Osaki’s address will be live-streamed globally on Subaru’s official YouTube channel, Subaru On-Tube, with English subtitles available during and after the broadcast.
