Special Edition Triumph Trident Due in Midyear

Triumph Motorcycles has launched a special edition Trident 660, featuring a tri-colour paint scheme and a quickshifter fitted as standard to the six-speed transmission. Mention of six, that’s how many will be available here, with pricing available prior to their June arrival date.

New for 2024, the Trident Triple Tribute will be available for one year only. The new graphic with the white, blue and red racing scheme and the ‘67’ number plate pays homage to the most famous Trident of all, ‘Slippery Sam’. A number of pilots won five TT production races in five consecutive years from 1971 to 1975 on that bike.

The SE also features a colour-matched fly screen and belly pan. Trident has been a huge success story for Triumph, with almost 40,000 sold globally since its launch in 2020. Helping appeal to younger buyers is its Euro 5-compliant 660cc three-cylinder engine which is LAMS legal here. It is designed to deliver low-down torque, a strong midrange and decent top end power. Peak output of 40kW arrives at 8750rpm, while maximum torque of 59Nm chimes in at 5000rpm. A distinctive triple soundtrack emanates from a single sided muffler, featuring a stainless steel finisher.

Suspending the 189kg Trident are Showa USD forks and a preload adjustable monoshock. Braking duties are handled by a pair of two-piston Nissin brakes operating on 310mm discs.

Lightweight cast alloy wheels are fitted with Michelin Road 5 tyres, and help to deliver the agility that is the Trident’s calling card.

Rounding things out are all LED-lighting, ABS, Road and Rain riding modes, switchable TC and a ride-by-wire throttle. There’s also a full-colour TFT screen, and an engine immobiliser built into the key. Personalisation of the Trident is possible through a range of 32 accessories. There’s also an alarm, tracker and special locks available for peace of mind.
