Road-ready Beta Alp 4.0 Coming to NZ Soon

Beta’s new Alp 4.0 dual-sport model is entering the New Zealand market soon.

Beta bikes are good off road, but this one will do on-road stuff as well.

Road bikes aren’t something that springs to mind in relation to Beta Motorcycles. This brand is much better known for making high-end dirt weapons. But that’s about to change with the announcement that Beta’s new Alp 4.0 is heading to our shores.

Here it is doing tarmac duties.

The Alp platform isn’t a mountain climber as the name suggests, but rather an approachable road-legal off-roader designed to bring lightweight adventures to the dual-sport market.

The Alp 4.0 offers an off-road focus to the build with wheels in 21-inch and 18-inch front and back diameters, respectively.

Flying Alp 4.0, as you do on a dirt bike for the road.

Motive power comprises a 348cc DOHC single-cylinder engine developed by Beta and Tayo Motorcycles. The new engine generates 26kW at 9500 rpm, says Beta, and a six-speed gearbox handles the output.

With dry weight of just 140kg, Beta reckons on fuel economy of 3.5L/100km so the 11-litre fuel tank should offer a range of over 300km. Top speed is set at 130km/h.

Legible instrument for this lightweight road bike.

Nissin brakes slow a 290mm disc at the front and 220mm at the rear, both under ABS control. ABS is switchable in the Offroad map. Seat height is 865mm.

A TFT dash relays all the important information to the rider.

Expect the Alp 4.0 to arrive in December, kicking off at $11,990 plus ORCs. Colour options are red and white.
