Rentals boost new car registrations in November 2023

New car registrations in November 2023 have been bolstered by a whopping 4466 rental vehicles, making up 30.7 per cent of last month’s overall figure. It’s also the highest number of rentals registered in New Zealand in the past four years.

Compared to the same time last year, new car registrations in November 2023 were 7.1 per cent lower at 14,519 units. Year-to-date, new car registrations in 2023 are 8.9 per cent lower than 2022 and 9 per cent lower than 2021.

As for plug-in hybrids, the Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross was the most popular (314 units), followed by the Outlander (277 units), and the MG HS (239 units).

The Toyota RAV4 was the most registered hybrid in November 2023 (657 units), with the Corolla (485 units) following behind in second, and the Corolla Cross (370 units) in third.
