Ram announces pricing for updated 2500 and 3500 Heavy Duty models

by Andrew Sluys
October 31, 2025

Ram Trucks New Zealand has revealed pricing and specification for the recently updated 2025 2500 and 3500 Heavy Duty models.

It marks the third iteration of Ram’s heavy duty offerings locally, first being introduced to the right-hand drive markets of New Zealand and Australia in 2015.

Set to start hitting showroom floors next month, the updated Ram 2500 starts from $189,990, and the 3500 starts at $194,990 (both before on-road costs).

A heavy duty tow pack is available for both models, for an extra $5,000. This includes a 50mm and a 70mm tow ball, plus a pintle.

A ‘Rambox’ storage system is also available exclusively for the 2500, which costs $5,000.

Changes to the exterior are obvious, with a black grille, wheels, mirrors and sidesteps now standard, as is the power bulge bonnet.

Though it might look like a mild mid-cycle facelift, with these Heavy Duty models benefitting from new fascias, the updates beneath the skin are significant.

Still powered by the same 6.7-litre Cummins inline-six turbo diesel engine, power and torque figures have been upped by 13 and 26 per cent respectively. This gives the new models peak outputs of 313kW and 1458Nm of torque.

According to Ram Trucks Australia, performance testing has shown a 7.2-second 0-100km/h time for these new models, which represents around a one second improvement on the outgoing models.

As for towing, both models are able to carry 3.5-tonnes on a 50mm tow ball, 4.5-tonnes on a 70mm tow ball, and up to 6.9-tonnes with a pintle connection. Regarding fifth wheel towing, this is still under development for New Zealand, and final tow weights will depend on the size and compliance of the fifth wheel.

There’s also a new eight-speed automatic transmission, which replaces the six-speed unit found in the outgoing model.

On the inside, the Heavy Duty models are now offered exclusively in a five-seat configuration, instead of six. This allows for a full-sized centre console — something reportedly requested by customers.

On the tech front, it gets a 12.3-inch digital cluster, and a 12-inch infotainment display with wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto. Dual wireless phone chargers and a nine-speaker Alpine audio system is also standard.

Luxury interior appointments include heated and cooled front seats with power adjustment, and a sunroof.
