Polestar 2 further reduced in price

Polestar New Zealand is now offering new 2023 examples of its standard-range single-motor Polestar 2 for $44,990. That’s a $25k discount on its MRP of $69,990. There are 11 still available in a range of colours, and all are brand new.

We still like the styling of Polestar 2, with its semi SUV look.

The offer is available until the end of March (or while stocks last) and the price includes a three-year service plan, roadside assist and connectivity.  On Road Costs add an extra $2000.

Midway through last year, the price for the same model was $54,990, down from its MRP of $79,990. And back then there was a $5k cashback on top of the reduction. So now these discounted models are another $5k less expensive. However, these models are the prefacelift variants that aren’t quite as powerful as current jodels (170kW/330Nm) and are front-wheel drive. The 2024 versions are rear drive with 200kW and 490Nm and that subtracts a second from the sprint time. Range is also greater, rising from 380 to 440km.

Fast there, and fast back, judging by the speed blur.

Features of the base model include adaptive cruise control and lane keeping assist, parking sensors and a 360-degree camera.

Prefer a Long Range, Dual Motor (Pilot) model instead? They’re available for $61,990 (MRP is $86,990), also a $25k saving. And the same thing with the Plus package is going for $69,990 (was $95k). The performance version is down from $105k to $80k.

Pick the 2025 MY Polestar 2 by its new (lack of a) grille.

The 2024 Polestar 2 variant, the rear driver, is offered at $64,990, down from $93,990 as a LRSM variant. The same thing with the Plus package (adds panoramic roof, vegan leather seats, Qi charging, heated wheel and rear seats, and updated sounds) goes for $74,990, down from $100k.

The two 2024 dual-motor versions, both long range, are $85k and $95k, down from $110k and $120k, respectively.
