Chery Group’s Omoda Jaecoo brand has previewed its next generation of vehicles at the company’s annual International User Summit, headlined by the new Omoda 4. This futuristic looking compact SUV debuts a bold new design direction for the brand.

Serving as the new entry point to the Omoda range, the Omoda 4 showcases what the brand calls its “Cyber Mecha” design philosophy, blending sharp geometric forms, illuminated detailing, and mechanical-inspired surfacing to create a look that’s more sci-fi than suburban. Omoda suggests the styling ‘redefines’ the compact SUV segment with angular LED headlights, distinctive side creases, and a sculpted rear design that wouldn’t look out of place in a video game.

Inside, the Omoda 4 continues the high-tech theme, with an immersive digital cockpit that supports personalised user customisation. Owners can tailor in-car entertainment, themes, and interfaces, integrating their own preferences and creativity into the driving experience.
No word yet when, or if, the Omoda 4 will be heading our way, but we can imagine it turning up here at some point in 2026 with a range of powertrain options.

Omoda 5 goes hybrid
Also revealed was the Omoda 5 SHS-H, the latest model to adopt the brand’s Super Hybrid System (SHS) technology. It features a series-parallel hybrid setup delivering a combined 165kW and a 0–100km/h sprint of 7.9 seconds and a WLTP range of 1000km. While Omoda no longer offers the all electric E5 here in New Zealand, with the brand’s push into the hybrid area, you can bet on seeing the 5 SHS-H here soon too as yet another affordable petrol electric option.
