Lambo’s CEO, Stephan Winkelmann, said the Lanzador EV will probably also be delayed.

Urus will retain a PHEV powertrain for its next generation and the foreseeable future. The electric variant will be pushed out to the middle of the next decade, according to Lamborghini’s boss Winkelmann.
He blamed the decision on the “unpredictability of ever-changing regulations”. And that is likely to delay the introduction of the firm’s first EV, the Lanzador due out in 2029.
Lambo’s best selling Urus was meant to go electric before 2030 but not any more.

“We want to have a new generation again as a plug-in hybrid,” he said.
“This is something very important for us and for the customers. And they were very happy to hear about this.”

He suggested this car would arrive in 2029, with the electric variant pencilled in for 2035. That happens to be the year that all new cars sold in Europe will be without tailpipes.
Expect an updated iteration of the existing powertrain which generates 588kW from its hybridised V8 set-up.
The decision is in line with that of Porsche. It will continue to sell the current ICE-powered Cayenne alongside the incoming EV.
Urus EV may be introduced earlier if things in the EV sector take off again. Whenever it arrives, it will be the second EV in Lamborghini’s line-up. For Winkelmann said that Lanzador will arrive around the end of the decade.

“We still have seven months of window to decide what to do next,” he said.
He added: “We are very flexible and we are constantly thinking when it should be.
“We already postponed the car because we saw the slowing adoption curve of electrification”.
He explained that car life cycles are becoming shorter due to a lot of new regulations coming in each year.
“This is making our life more complex.”
