New Vespa colours to brighten up summer

Words NZ Autocar | Images Vespa

September 9, 2022

Vespa scooters are always hip, and now even more so, the Primavera and Sprint gaining striking new colours as part of the Vespa Colour Collection 2022.

The Primavera gains Green Relax with a light brown saddle (see two images below) and Beige Avvolgente (creamy brown, directly below) to the line-up, while Green Tenace and Blu Estroverso are added to the Sprint range. These colours are offered over and above the current colour choices for both models, which already come in grey, white, red, and black. Pictured above is the Sprint blue variant.

Both the Primavera and Sprint are powered by a 155cc air-cooled four-stroke, single cam petrol engine with Italian Green Experience Technology (i-GET). This makes them Euro 4 compliant. Other features include three valves per cylinder and electronic fuel injection. Output is rated at 13hp and 13Nm, the power sent to the rear wheel via a Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT). Pictured below is the Primavera in the new Green Relax hue.

Each model also gets LED lights from stem to stern, a USB charging port, and ABS brakes. In New Zealand the Vespa Primavera 50 kicks off at $5990 while the 150 version costs  $7390. The Vespa Sprint 150 goes for $7590.

The range topping GTS line-up kicks off at $7990 for the 150 model, while 300cc versions start at $10,990 for the SuperSport HPE.

Last night at the launch I met folk who go touring on 300s, as far north as the Hokianga from Auckland. The 300s are capable of stable cruising at highway speeds, topping out at well over 100km/h. Helping with such duties are windscreens, carriers, topboxes and sports seats (image below from Rider magazine).
