The new Nissan Leaf will be offered here in New Zealand, with Nissan Oceania Managing Director Andrew Humberstone confirming the model will arrive in 2026.
“Leaf is a product that’s committed to the market,” Humberstone said during a press conference in Auckland.
While Humberstone didn’t give an exact launch date, Nissan representatives confirmed the arrival is currently scheduled for the third quarter of 2026.

How much will the new Nissan Leaf cost?
Humberstone said pricing will be key to the model’s success and that conversations are ongoing to ensure it lands at a competitive price point.
“I’m pushing back on pricing at the moment. I want to make sure we’ve got the right price for the market,” he said.
The new Leaf is one of five new models confirmed by Nissan for the local market in the next 18 months, alongside the MY25 Patrol, all-new Patrol, updated Navara, and next-generation Qashqai.

Humberstone said Nissan’s local strategy is shifting to be more agile and customer-led, with an emphasis on responding to market demands quickly rather than sticking to long-term rigid product timelines.
“The conventional strategy of planning five, 10 years ahead… I believe is obsolete,” he said. “We need to be very agile and adapt to changing market dynamics.”
The updated approach includes more direct engagement with New Zealand dealers, including through a reinvigorated dealer advisory board and quarterly visits by the Oceania leadership team.
