New emblem debuts ahead of Bentley concept car due soon

Bentley has revealed a new version of its winged B emblem that will adorn all of its future production cars. That begins with its first EV, which is due out next year. It will debut soon on a concept car.

What it looked like previously and above what it will soon look like.

The company says the new badge better matches the sharper cleaner, more minimalist design of its next-generation cars. It takes inspiration from luxury watches and birds of prey.

Bentley says the new branding is “the first step of a design and brand revolution at the British marque”.

The new motif will appear very soon on an era-defining concept car. It will preview a radical new design language for the brand’s future machines. That includes the first electric Bentley, an ‘urban SUV’ that will sit beneath Bentayga.

The company says it takes inspiration from “an iconic Bentley of the past” while setting the tone for the next generation of luxury vehicles.

Robin Page, Bentley’s director of design, penned the new logo and also designed the concept car it will adorn. This is the fifth iteration of the winged emblem in the firm’s 106-year history.

To deliver a sharper look to the emblem, Page removed the lower set of feathers that used to sit below the B.

The new badge features a sharper wing profile, like those of a peregrin falcon according to Page. “It was about purifying and simplifying the wings.”

The B element borrows from the watch world.

“Instead of just a flat surface, it has a glass piece and a three-dimensional ‘jewel’.

“We’re moving into a more progressive front now, with sharper diamond shapes, triangles and light illuminations, so the new logo matches that form language.”

The original wings were designed to be asymmetrical, with a different number of feathers, and they remain so in the latest interpretation.
