The latest generation of Audi’s Q5 SUV has arrived in New Zealand. With refreshed styling, new technology, improved practicality and more efficient powertrains, the Q5 is expected to become Audi’s best-selling model here.

Greg Leet, General Manager of Audi New Zealand, is confident the all-new Q5 will continue the nameplate’s strong local legacy.
“The all-new Q5 is an evolution of one of our most popular SUVs,” said Leet. “As the second model in our new generation of highly efficient combustion engines, it represents an important step in bringing the latest Audi technology and performance to our top-selling SUV.”

The new Q5 lineup is the first Audi SUV built on the Premium Platform Combustion (PPC), allowing for high-volume production with Audi’s latest technical innovations. It arrives with petrol and mild hybrid (MHEV plus) powertrains, while plug-in hybrid variants are set to join the range later in its lifecycle.
Audi Q5 pricing and line-up
Audi will offer the new Q5 SUV in New Zealand in an S line trim starting at $111,990. It comes with a 2.0-litre TFSI engine producing 150kW and 340Nm, paired with Audi’s signature quattro all-wheel drive system.

Also available from launch are the high-performance SQ5 models. The SQ5 SUV is priced from $149,990, while the SQ5 Sportback begins at $153,990. Both are powered by a 3.0-litre V6 TFSI engine delivering 270kW and 550Nm.
Sitting between the two performance variants and the standard Q5, the Q5 eHybrid plug-in will arrive later in the year, priced from $119,990.

Design and practicality
Visually, the third-generation Q5 is more dynamic and athletic than before. Inside, the Q5 offers improved spaciousness and flexibility. A standout feature is the fully adjustable rear bench, which can slide and recline to prioritise legroom or boot space. Cargo capacity extends up to 1473 litres with the rear seats folded.

Other thoughtful touches include an enlarged central storage console, more storage nooks, and a cooled wireless charging tray with 15W capacity. USB-C ports are provided for both front and rear passengers.
Lighting and digital tech
Matrix LED headlights and second-generation digital OLED taillights are available, offering up to eight customisable light signatures. The rear light strip and projection brake light enhance both visibility and safety.

Inside, Audi’s latest infotainment system includes a learning voice assistant, now shown as an avatar on the central display and head-up display (HUD). The Q5 is Audi’s first model to allow drivers to control navigation and infotainment directly via the HUD using steering wheel buttons, improving safety by reducing distractions.
Efficiency and comfort
All Q5 models feature Audi’s latest MHEV plus system, powered by a 48V electrical system that supports coasting, regenerative braking, and limited electric-only driving. This setup boosts both efficiency and performance, while enabling functions like electric air conditioning when the engine is off.

Chassis updates include enhanced progressive steering and a reworked front axle for a sportier drive. Standard models get steel suspension with Frequency Selective Damping, while air suspension is optional on the Q5 and standard on SQ5 variants. Adaptive damping allows drivers to switch between comfort and dynamic ride modes via Audi Drive Select.
