Motorsport Diary: Kiwis racing overseas this weekend

KIWIS RACING ABROAD | 9-11 AUGUST WEEKEND PREVIEW 

Kiwi drivers are back in full force across the globe, participating in nine racing categories this weekend.

In the United States, all eyes are on Portland International Raceway for a massive weekend of open-wheeler action.

The NTT IndyCar Series returns for Round 15 of 17 with the Kiwi trio attempting to round out the end of the season in style.

In Indy NXT, Callum Hedge continues his impressive 2025 campaign with Abel Motorsports. His recent run of good performances has him sitting seventh in the championship standings.

Queensland Raceway in Australia hosts a big weekend of Supercars action. Five Kiwi drivers – Ryan Wood, Matt Payne, Andre Heimgartner, Richie Stanaway, and Jaxon Evans – partake in Round 8 of the championship, contesting the Ipswich Super 440. Several Kiwis are on the support card too.

Meanwhile, Shane van Gisbergen is back doing double duty in the NASCAR Cup and Xfinity Series at Watkins Glen International. After a runner-up finish last time out, SVG will be one to watch in NY as he chases more silverware.

Rounding out the weekend, Zack Scoular returns to action in the Eurocup-3 championship at the TT Circuit Assen in the Netherlands.
