Following on from the release of the two ZS Hybrid+ models costing in the late thirties, MG now announces pricing for three incoming petrol ZS models. And the base variant kicks things off at $29,990 plus ORCs. That model is known as the ZS Excite.

Profile of new ZS petrol variant.

Next in line is the better specified ZS Essence priced from $32,990 (+ORC). At the top of the petrol ZS line-up is the Essence Turbo at $34,990 (+ORC).

Read our review of the MG ZS Hybrid+ Essence.

The expanded range is expected to build on the good initial response to the Hybrid+ twins. All three will go on sale from early February.

What the Turbo ZS looks like inside.

The ZS Excite and Essence both use an 81kW/140Nm naturally aspirated four-cylinder 1.5 petrol engine. Fuel efficiency for the pair is rated at 6.7L/100km. They each use a CVT box.

The ZS Essence Turbo output is 125kW and 275Nm, also flowing to the front wheels via a CVT. Its rated combined fuel use figure is 6.9L/100km.

Plenty of boot space for a family of four.

The full specs for the new ZS range will be announced when they go on sale in February. However, we do know that all models come with the iSmart safety suite, sat nav, smartphone integration and push button start. The compact crossover is 4430mm long, 1818mm wide and 1635mm tall. Its luggage capacity MG rates at 443L, expanding to 1457L with the rear seats out of play.

Wheels range from 16 to 18 inches in diameter.

The three models run on 16-, 17- and 18-inch rims, respectively. While the turbo variant gets a 12.3-inch IFT screen, the other two have a smaller 10.25-inch touchscreen. The turbo also comes with a 360-degree hi-def surround camera and PVC seats (driver’s heated and powered). Meantime, the two lesser models get a reversing camera and cloth upholstery.

Behind the wheel looks like this.

The new ZS additions are all backed by MG’s 10-year/250,000km warranty.

The final model in the new line-up is the ZS EV which is due soon as well.
