Mercedes-AMG is prepping a serious track day weapon, releasing the first official images of an extreme new GT Track Sport ahead of its 2026 debut.
Developed as a customer race car, the GT Track Sport builds on the latest, second-generation AMG GT coupé and promises to deliver the brand’s most uncompromising performance yet. AMG says the new model combines a V8 drivetrain, sophisticated aerodynamics, and intelligent lightweight construction, all aimed at maximising track capability.

While designed primarily for the circuit, the GT Track Sport is also expected to preview technology and design cues for AMG’s next GT Black Series, the brand’s ultimate expression of road-legal performance.
Built to push the limits
The new Track Sport has been created to sit above the current AMG GT Pro, which is a 603bhp monster already tuned for track use. Given AMG’s hints, it’s plausible the newcomer could eclipse that figure, edging closer to the 700hp territory occupied by some of Porsche’s and McLaren’s most focused track specials.

AMG hasn’t yet confirmed technical details, but the GT Track Sport will continue to use a twin-turbocharged V8, likely a version of the familiar 4.0-litre unit found across AMG’s top-tier models. With reduced weight, upgraded suspension, and enhanced cooling, the result should be a car capable of blistering lap times.
Aerodynamics Turned Up
The Track Sport’s design is a clear evolution of the GT’s muscular form, but with a host of race-inspired modifications aimed at increasing downforce and airflow efficiency.

Up front, there’s a larger front splitter integrated into a reshaped bumper, while the bonnet gains new ducts to channel air through the engine bay for improved thermal management. The side skirts are more pronounced and now house twin side-exit exhausts, replacing the standard model’s rear-mounted setup.
At the rear, the changes are even more dramatic. A swan-neck rear wing sits high above the deck, featuring manual adjustment to fine-tune downforce levels. A secondary lip spoiler has been added to the boot lid for additional aerodynamic balance, while the diffuser, mostly hidden in teaser images, is expected to be a major area of development, further enhancing stability and cornering grip.

A glimpse of the next Black Series
Although the GT Track Sport is being built as a non-road-legal race car, its underlying technology and design will heavily influence AMG’s next-generation GT Black Series, the halo road car that traditionally represents the brand’s most powerful and extreme offering.
The previous Black Series, launched in 2020, produced 720hp and set Nürburgring records. If the Track Sport continues AMG’s upward trajectory, the next Black Series could set a new benchmark for the front-engined supercar category.
