Autocar March 2024 issue on sale

In the latest issue of NZ Autocar magazine, we announce the real Car of the Year for 2023 – a decision that was carefully considered, and drawn from another year of in-depth motoring reviews.

We also feature the new BMW i5 M60, the new Jeep Avenger, and the fresh looking Subaru Solterra – among many others. Check out what the March 2024 issue holds for you, just below.

Car of the Year

Another 12 months has zoomed by and has seen us testing all the major new vehicle arrivals to the New Zealand market. Here we name our cars of the year.

Jeep Avenger Launch Edition

It’s a nameplate that most boomers will recall but the modern Avenger resembles the old one only on wheel count. Meet Jeep’s first EV.

Subaru Solterra

Subaru enters new territory with the arrival, finally, of its first electric vehicle, Solterra. It’s got AWD naturally, and modern SUV styling but is it enough of a Subaru?

Subaru Impreza

Subaru has decided to release just a single well-specified Impreza hatch here. Is it the right move?

BMW i5 M60

While BMW’s new 5 Series is available with ICE motivation overseas, in New Zealand we only get the all-electric i5 and only in top M60 spec. Is it all too much?

BYD Seal Dynamic

BYD’s new Seal sedan comes in three guises, this Dynamic model the base variant. Is it the best value in the line-up?

Honda CR-V Sport 7

Medium SUVs are no longer quite as affordable as they once were but quality and specification have lifted, as evidenced by the latest Honda CR-V Sport 7.

Hyundai Kona 1.6 Hybrid Active

The original Kona became Hyundai’s best seller locally. There’s a new one on the block but will it continue to be as popular in its new guise? Here we check out the hybrid Active.

BYD Dolphin Standard

We liked the Extended variant of the Dolphin but how does the Standard model fare?

SsangYong Korando Limited

It had been a while since we drove this SUV from SsangYong, so how is Korando holding up in 2024?

SsangYong Rexton SPR

We check out the diesel-powered Rexton during a week away. Is it still fit for the family?

Skoda Enyaq

How did our first month with Skoda’s electric Enyaq go?

Ross Bros Museum Visit

There are a few private treasure troves of significant automobiles hidden away around the country. The Ross Bros Museum near Cambridge is one of the most significant, and we check it out.

Moto Guzzi V100 Mandello S E5

Moto Guzzi hasn’t produced a truly new engine in 50 years but now it has for its centenary bike, the V100 Mandello. And that’s not all that’s new.

CFMoto 450 SR

Is the 450 SR the potential LAMS disruptor it promises to be?
